I remember how difficult it was when I first started my business from my living room over 11 years ago.
In week one, I decided on a business name, set up a business phone number, bought the domain name, built a website from scratch in three days, and sifted through hundreds of business card designs before ordering my first supply of 500.
In week two, I reached out to 100 people in my network to formally announce my business launch.
By week three, I became hospitalized for 7 days and forced to fast during my entire stay so 7 different doctors could figure out what was causing the excruciating pain and inflammation in my abdomen.
Nearly one month into my new venture, I returned home unable to eat, drink, and walk unassisted since my muscles had atrophied. My mom traveled over 300 miles to come live with me for a week. She fed me, bathed me, cleaned up after me, and cared for me until I was at least strong enough to move around on my own.
To say I felt like the biggest failure in the world would be an understatement. My mind took me to dark places. Who was I to think I could make a difference in the world? It's hard enough to just get through to today. I wanted to disappear and never think about being a business owner ever again. But, to my surprise, people wanted to hear my story and learn from my experience in real-time as I was still recovering and going through the trenches just a few steps ahead of them.
It was uncertain times during the recession of 2008, similar to the climate of this current pandemic. People were yearning for inspiration, clarity, and guidance on how to navigate their life, health, and career transitions. They didn't want lofty answers, just real talk.
What I've learned over the past decade through speaking, coaching and training: people are inherently good human beings who want to make a difference in the world. We all dream big. We all have high hopes. We all want to make money doing what we love.
What I've also experienced while working in the "self-help" space, we all have been duped at some point into believing we have to step on someone in order to get what we want. Since I refuse to be "that guy," I won't preach, teach, or sell "that way."
That's why I'm revamping my best-selling training content and making it more accessible and affordable for the Brave Bear Community. You don't need to buy a fully-packed toolbox if all you need is one tool to get you started on your project today.
